Diesis by Alice Caetano for Pom Pom Quarterly using Knit by Numbers & Viola

Entering August normally means everyone is getting excited for summer holidays and going to the beach!

However over here, us knitters, spinners, crocheters and crafters are getting excited as it means its coming closer to sweater weather! Don’t get us wrong we love the British summer time and the seaside. But what about all the knitting!?

The perfectly timed arrival of Pom Pom Quarterly’s Issue 22 has got us thinking! A beautiful issue as ever, you can see every item to knit here on their Ravelry page.

Thank you Edinburgh Yarn Festival!

We have now landed back to reality after a spectacular woolly show in Edinburgh followed by a few days exploring the beautiful city!

Edinburgh Yarn Festival was a roaring success and we had an amazing time. Thank you again Jo & Mica for putting on such a fab event, and to add to the fun was the Ceilidh – an evening of traditional Scottish dancing and music (a splendid night of fun, frolics and many an interesting dance move from exhibotors and visitors alike).

If you were not able to make it to the show here are a few pics of our stand!

Edinburgh Yarn Festival

We are now on the final run up to Edinburgh Yarn Festival! Over the next few days we will be organising our yarn stash, whipping up some tops and pairing our socks!

We are getting ready to embark on the long drive up to Scotland from North Devon and cannot wait!

On the stand, as well as our normal array of yarns including Knit by Numbers, Viola, Alpaca 2-3 ply, etc, we will be bringing along a very lovely run of a new Knit By Numbers DK colour – Mustard, in 6 lovely shades! …going from a lovely Dijon coloured Mustard through to a light hint. … And, you will of course be happy to know, we are making good progress on the 4-ply!! Shh! … this will be available later in the year.

We are visiting Sitting Knitting

We are very excited to be doing our first woolly trunk show of the year!

We will be visiting the lovely Rachel at Sitting Knitting at her yarn shop in Sutton Coldfield.

We will bring with us from Devon a selection of our yarns, scrummy tops, and some socks

It will be the first ever outing for the complete range of ‘Harvest Hues’ … a fingering weight Merino yarn blended with our local Zwartbles wool. The natural dark brown Zwartbles in the blend creates a rustic and buoyant yarn.

Also making its first appearance is our Alpaca Delight fingering weight yarn … a super soft yarn with a beautiful drape when knitted. The colour range includes some lovely pastel to compliment the natural shades.

We will also be taking along some trusty stalwarts … a selection of colours from our beautifully blended Viola range, our Alpaca 2-3ply heavy lace, our Exmoor sock yarn (made from our local sheep) and our Zwartbles range in 3 natural shades.
