With Woolfest now just around the corner we are busy filling our shelves and cans with gorgeous woolly goodies.
John has now plucked the winners of the lucky dip Mill Open Weekend 2018 ‘Show & Tell’ out of a fibre can!
Good luck to you all!
One of the main events at our annual Mill Open Weekend is Show & Tell.
We invite all our lovely Mill visitors to bring along something they have crafted in our Fibre or Yarn. This year’s entries were amazing as always. The crafts span from felted books and embroidered structures to the finest hand spun yarn and beautiful knitting, crochet and weaving work. We spent the weekend taking photos of the lovely projects you brought in which we are delighted to share here…
Firstly, thank you to everyone who came to our 2018 Mill Open Weekend and for making it such a success. We had a ball over the weekend, and it was fabulous to spend the days leading up to it polishing and sprucing, so each machine could be as proud as punch to show itself off to all the interested visitors.
You came from far and wide – from just down the road, from further up the road and even from Italy! Over the course of the weekend we gave 18 mill tours (9 a day) to 350 people, with over 1000 people visiting total! And we all ate about a million local homemade cakes accompanied by made many cups of tea.
We are coming up to one of our most top-tastic shows!
Wonderwool Wales is on the last weekend of April and we are happily busy at the Mill preparing lots of sumptous Tops and fab fibre blends for spinners and Tops lovers!
We are on our usual stand of M5 and will be filling it the rafters!
As the sun begins to peer between the clouds and the sea tries to warm up a little here in Devon, the Mill is a thriving hub of activity. We’ve begun to prepare for our annual Mill Open Weekend on the Sat 19th & Sun 20th May. Now in its 5th year, we look forward to a weekend of opening up the Mill, inviting you all in to have a peak of our wonderful woolly world and a slice of home-made cake.
But this year we also have a special guest joining us…
Rachel Atkinson of Daughter of a Shepherd will be with us at the Mill all weekend. She will be bringing her gorgeous yarns back to the place where they were spun and sharing her inspiring new book.
On our return from Edinburgh Yarn Festival we are putting up some new treats on the Mill Members pages!
Two gorgeous new colourways of TOPS both in a blend of Merino, Corriedale and Silk. This blend is proving very popular both at the Mill and in your hands, and we can understand why! The Merino is super soft and colourful, whilst the brown Corriedale is full of bounce and character, and the A1 Milberry Silk provides a lustrous shimmery shine … these Tops tick all the boxes. The team at the Mill have made 2 new limited edition colours – Silver Sonnet and Silver Thistle.
Silver Sonnet being a mix of gorgeous red/pink hues, whilst Silver Thistle is a sumptuous purpley lavender.
We are back and rested from our epic adventure to Scotland! We had a spectacular time at Edinburgh Yarn Festival and feel super inspired after leaving such a talent filled show!
For us, it was the first outing of our KBN DK mini skeins and we loved watching people pick’n’mix their fave colour combos and hear what they were going to create. They will be on our website, alongside the 4ply minis, later in April, but in the meantime will be up on the Mill Member pages very soon.
Today at the mill we are busy bustling around and gathering the finishing touches for our stand at Edinburgh Yarn Festival! Whilst John is finishing off making some specials to bring (he can’t help himself), and packing the van and trailer full of woolly goodies, we thought we would share some of the treats we are bringing up with us.
