It’s almost showtime! Behind the scenes, John and the Mill folk have been especially busy getting everything ready for the first show of 2019… yes it’s Unravel. We can’t wait to see you there and share our lovely woolly wares with you in person and have a good ol’ natter.
Our re-vamped Exmoor Sock Yarn has landed and we’re so thrilled with all your excitement and enthusiasm and support for this new woolly treat. To accompany the yarn, we have launched 6 glorious new patterns created by splendid indie designers. So we thought what better way to celebrate the launch of this scrumptious yarn and abundance of glorious patterns than with a KAL! All designers will be joining us in hosting this over in our Ravelry Group (read on for more info and KAL rules).
It is rather chilly at the moment, so it feels like the ideal time to whip up a few pairs of socks and gloves to keep those finger’s and toes nice and cosy.
Here at John Arbon Textiles, we love Fay Dashper-Hughes‘ approach to design – frequently offered in both crochet and knitting versions. We are amazed and enthralled at the way she creates magic using both techniques!
She is also a fantastic person – it is rare that a yarn show goes by without Fay popping round for a natter, and often with homemade cake which is a welcome gift!
So when Fay told us she was planning a Crochet / Knit Along (see below for the full info on this C/KAL rules) for her latest design, Loft – we couldn’t resist joining in the fun! Loft (pictured below) is just gorgeous – and we hope you’ll think about joining Fay and us in making your own version.
In just a couple of days we will be heading up north from the rolling hills of Devon to the beautiful countryside of Skipton. Canals and antique shops a plenty, we shall be excitedly setting up there for Yarndale! And you will be able to find us just opposite our usual spot this year in the Yarndale Market – stand 81 (right near the Knit & Natter lounge) at Skipton Auction Mart, 23rd – 24th September 2017 … Saturday 10am – 5:30pm & Sunday 10am – 4:30pm.
Our 3rd Mill Open Weekend is now just around the corner (Sat 14th and Sun 15th May)!
We are busily polishing our most prized machines – they will be standing proud waiting to show you what they’re capable of!
Here are a few photos of our machines in action to wet your appetite!
Wonderwool Wales was the very first outing of our brand new Knit by Numbers 4-ply. We took it along in it’s beautiful new display cabinets (hand made for us by the joiners down the road from the mill in South Molton).
Having the huge range of colours in DK and 4ply side by side on our stand looked amazing … 91 different shades of each creating a glorious colour experience!
We are now officially back to work, both here at the shop, and in the mill.
After a lovely bit of festive time off doing jigsaws, finishing knitting projects, enjoying the fire (when it was needed!) and catching up with friends, we are ready to go in the year 2016 with gusto!
We are very excited for the year ahead.
With a few shows confirmed for 2016 already we have lots of spinning to do!
We will give you lots more information about these shows over the next few weeks. Including information about our third annual Mill Open Weekend (dates confirmed now for 14th & 15th May)!
You can also keep up with this information in our Ravelry group, which you can find here.
Each New Year brings new resolutions, so you will be glad to hear ours is to make more & more yarn and lovely tops!
A few things to tickle your fancy will be the 4-ply Knit by Numbers range. We will give you more information about the top-secret grand unveiling of this nearer the time.
So for now, we would just like to say … Happy New Year!
